One Kings Lane is a site that offers flash sales on furniture and home decor (for those of you who didn't know). While looking at their site yesterday I noticed a sale on Diane von Furstenberg bedding.  Diane- as I like to call her cuz we are close, personal friends ;) - always has really interesting patterns and designs, especially compared to some of the snooze-worthy (pun intended) bedding that I usually see.  Her sale ends tomorrow, May 24th, (sorry for the late notice) but it's definitely worth checking out.  P.S I saw a couple of these duvets for regular price on Bloomingdales so you are definitely getting a deal. Remember when I posted about my dream guest bathroom ?  It's so beautiful I have to post it again- to refresh your memory of course- not because I LOVE it and can't stop looking at it. ;) Image from Town Well, I bought two magazines (a special edition of Domino Magazine and House Beautiful ) the other week.  In BOTH magazines, chandeliers very similar to the one in MY bathroom were featured. I think this means that the above chandelier and I were meant to be.  Don't you?   Happy Friday! I graduated from grad school 10 years ago though it really does feel like it was just the other day... Wow! I feel old.   Our school had a 10 year reunion party last night.  It was a fun night.  I got to see people I literally have not seen in 10 years and I got to reconnect with friends that I should see more often.  All in all, it was a lovely evening (minus the food and drinks at the event, which is a whole other story).  My amazing, beautiful sons, whom I love very much, BOTH decided it would be good to wake up this morning at 5:30 AM!! Yes, that's right.  Hubby and I escape for a night out, which doesn't happen often enough, and this is how we are repaid.  Ugh. This weather stinks! I wish the sun would come out! One of the good things about rain (besides providing water to plants and animals) is that it makes me feel slightly less bad about sitting in front of my computer for hours looking for sconces (lights for those lacking a PhD in lighting terminology. lol) for our master bathroom in our new house (that we still have not moved into- if you're wondering).  Yes, I know it's exciting. Try to contain yourselves, but this is what I have been spending my extra time doing.  Sad, but true. Instead of trying to fit a larger vanity with two sinks into our master bathroom, we decided to buy two smaller vanities, one for me and one for hubby.  My mom said she saw this setup in a model bathroom and it looked pretty good, so we decided to go for it since it would work better in the space that we have.  Take a look at this old picture of our master bathroom: One vanity will go where the sink is and one will go in the empty space

There are A LOT of things you learn when you become a parent.  Two of the most important things I've learned are how much my parents truly love me (and my sister) and how hard they have worked to take care of us and make us happy. My mother sacrificed her career to stay at home with my sister and I.  I believe having my mom around all of the time created a warm, nurturing environment for us to grow up in and help shaped me into the person I am today.  HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, MOM!  I love you. Happy Mother's Day to my aunts, my cousins and my friends who are working SO hard to be the best mothers ever.  You are doing an amazing job! So, this weekend, while you are out celebrating Mother's Day make sure your mother knows how much you love and appreciate her.  Though jewelery, expensive handbags, flowers and spa treatments are great gifts (and yes, we still want and deserve them) most of all we want to know that we are genuinely loved and appreciated. me &

So, things have been a bit hectic the last few days.  Let's just say our childcare situation has gone through some big changes this week and I've been super busy trying to help the kids through the transition.  Yes, that's my excuse for not posting the winner of the West Elm giveaway until now.  Good excuse? When you're doing something as overwhelming as renovating your house you sometimes need to take a step back from all of the hard decisions- heat, air conditioning, kitchen layout, new roof angles, fixing crawl spaces, fixing chimneys, updating electrical, etc. etc. etc.- and focus on the parts that are pretty and fun.  For me that means, furniture and room layouts. Here are a few of the pretty things that I have been looking at to keep my mind off of the stressful stuff. Deep Breath! :) There is a guest bathroom off of our kitchen.
