HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! (ok it's a little belated)

Image
I hope you had an amazing Valentine's Day celebrating with your sweetie. Here's a kiss from me to you via one of my favorite bloggers, Jessica from The Aestate . Check out more of her prints on her Etsy site . I also wanted to send extra special hugs and kisses to those of you who go out of your way to stop by. It means so much to me. Can you believe my first post was 2 years ago and we were celebrating V-day like this 2 years ago ? Happy 2 year anniversary, StyleBurbia! xoxo, Ris

Hi friends- Let's just say, I needed a break. This summer was turning into a bit of a bummer.  I hadn't had a day off since July 4th weekend and 30 days without a break from work was getting me down. Luckily we had a little R&R planned and it was needed and definitely welcomed. We headed up north to upstate New York right on the Canadian border to a house on Lake Ontario. This was our fifth trip up there and we were looking forward to a house full of family.  My hubby's dad, his three brothers, our two sister-in-laws and our niece, plus our family and my parents all snuggled up in our house on the lake.  Some fishing with Uncle Evan: Awww. How cute is this pic with papa? My dad looking pensive: Chilling on the quad: Funny faces: And the most amazing sunsets: Candid A little stroll.. with some scary monster faces: Checking out the sea-doo: ...

Happy Love Day!

Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of StyleBurbia. Damn, time flies by, huh? So, on this day where we are supposed to be reminding everyone how much we love them, I want to thank you for reading (though my posts have been short and sporadic lately) and tell you how much I love you!!!   I should be doing this every day.   Happy Valentine's Day!   xo Image via The Simply Luxurious Life

Tribute to Mom

There are A LOT of things you learn when you become a parent.  Two of the most important things I've learned are how much my parents truly love me (and my sister) and how hard they have worked to take care of us and make us happy. My mother sacrificed her career to stay at home with my sister and I.  I believe having my mom around all of the time created a warm, nurturing environment for us to grow up in and help shaped me into the person I am today.  HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, MOM!  I love you. Happy Mother's Day to my aunts, my cousins and my friends who are working SO hard to be the best mothers ever.  You are doing an amazing job! So, this weekend, while you are out celebrating Mother's Day make sure your mother knows how much you love and appreciate her.  Though jewelery, expensive handbags, flowers and spa treatments are great gifts (and yes, we still want and deserve them)...

Happy Love Day! xoxo

EmcDesignLab on Etsy.com Only a couple of posts into this blog and I have to come up with a post for Valentine's Day, not easy! I know everyone gets so caught up in the flowers, candy, jewelry and dinners that accompany this day. Don't get me wrong, I am definitely a girl who appreciates this holiday, but I think the more important thing is to remember to show your love all year round, not just on a day that someone, somewhere made up (or more precisely Pope Gelasius I in 496 AD-thanks Wikipedia). I am, of course, guilty of not following my own advice, but isn't it better for the person you love to know that you love them ALL of the time instead of just one day out of the year? So, I leave you with a quote from my favorite love story of all time, Wuthering Heights: "he's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same." Oh, and by the way, where are my flowers and heart-shaped chocolates???!!
