Kitchen Final Update

Image
Hi. hi.   Sometimes you get so caught up in the renovation process you forget to share the finished product.   Drum roll please.....   Though I would say we've been done for probably over a year (lol), here is the StyleBurbia kitchen.        For a walk down memory lane, here are some pictures from the process and some of our inspiration: Posts 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6* (this one provides a great look at the whole process) , 7  & 8.  I included a few here for your browsing pleasure:                       How did we do? Do you like the finished result? We are enjoying it immensely. Talk soon. xo, Ris

A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That

I'm loving the fact that we have had absolutely nothing planned the last few weekends.  No meetings with contractors, no running to pick out bathroom fixtures or counter tops, no picking up a million supplies from Home Depot, no kiddo birthday parties.   I could get used to this. lol Because we are so used to having every moment of our weekends allocated to house renovations, we have a tendency to walk around the house saying, "soooo what do we need to do here?" There are definitely a few big projects left to do like trying to figure out what to do with this counter top where our washer and dryer are housed.  We might do a different counter top than the one on the main island to mix things up a bit. I had been looking for a runner for the area above and for a rug near the sink. I think the one I found on One Kings Lane  looks really pretty in the space (but I might be slightly biased).   I love that it is chevron and I lo...

Extra, Extra Read All About It

Hello there! Just wanted to share some updated pictures of the kitchen.... It's white. It's glossy. These poles will be painted white to blend in to the surroundings. Before (for reference): Little bit closer... Trying to see if we can switch these glass doors.  I wanted something where the glass almost came to the end of the cabinet door.  These look a little like prison windows. ;) I think if I can't get a door with more glass, I'll swap these out for just plain front doors. Before: Slightly different angle but just so you can see the old island See this area that I circled in red below? These were big doors that concealed the previous owners' washer and dryer. We decided to go with a similar set up, but these doors covered up a nice window and made the kitchen darker and we didn't want that.   So we took out the original window, which wasn't as wide but was taller and repla...

Weekend in Review

Image
Hello there! I hope you have a lovely weekend. On Friday, I had a long list of things that I wanted to work on for the house this weekend including picking the granite for the kitchen island and counter tops; picking a back splash for the kitchen, picking a vanity for the guest bathroom and figuring out what I was doing for an accent wall for the same bathroom.  I also wanted to pick out a faucet for the kitchen, but that item didn't make it on to the agenda AT ALL and though I was thinking of the granite, we didn't get around to doing that either.  The problem with a lot of design stores for kitchen and bathrooms is that they have limited hours on Saturdays and are usually closed on Sundays.  So you have to jam pack a ton of stuff from 9 am to 3 pm on a Saturday. I wanted to pick the granite counter top and then work from there, but sometimes, what you plan isn't what works out.  So we ended up looking at the back splash and tiles for...
