Boys' Bathroom

Image
You must have wondered if I dropped off the face of the planet... I'm still here.  The fam and I were lucky enough to spend a little fun in the sun with good friends and family for the last week.   Nothing like a little fun, sun and r & r to pick up the spirits. I have to admit that there are quite a few house pictures that I have been holding back from you. I promise to be more forthcoming.  More pics coming soon of our Master Bedroom, updates to Hayden's room and a design dilemma that is driving me cray cray. Until then, here are some pictures of the boys' bathroom. Luckily for us, we made only a few minor adjustments that I think went a long way. You've heard me say it once and I'll say it again- nothing wrong with this room, but we wanted to add our own splash to the space.  We also thought that the black and white tiles added some fun and were perfect for a little boys' bathroom. We didn't change any of the tiles and...

Sneak Peek: Amy's Brooklyn Pad, Part 1

Image
Today I'm giving you a sneak peek into the amazing Brooklyn apartment of my friends Amy and Bryan.  Amy and I go waaaaaaaaay back.  We've been friends since freshman year of college. Unfortunately, this is longer ago than I care to admit.  When Amy told me she was decorating her new place, I jumped at the opportunity to chit chat about the space; share ideas; and, of course, drink some wine. ;) Check us out back in the day with our other besties and roomies: Yes, we thought we were cool.  Yes, this was before low rise jeans came into being. LOL A slightly more up-to-date picture of Amy and her sweet pup, Pablo: Amy's 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment has an open floor plan where the living room, dining area and kitchen share a space.  Love the graphic pattern on this rug, which makes it the focal point of the room (for now). It will probably be moved to the guest bedroom and replaced by an amazing cowhide rug. ...

How does your Garden Grow?

Image
Happy Friday! I love flowers, plants and gardening.  I've been lucky enough to have a small garden in the outdoor area of my apartment ( See previous post here ) to exercise my green thumb.  Of course, my apartment garden isn't huge and it's a little shady, but I've worked through this by mostly planting annuals and shade-loving plants.  If I'm losing you, because you know nothing about plants you can always scroll down to look at the pretty pictures. :) So, our new house has flowering trees, roses, hydrangeas and other bulbs.  I am super excited to see how everything looks as we bought the house in the dead of winter (was there really a dead of winter this year..? nope) and I can't wait to add a little of my own flair to what already seems like a beautiful garden. Hooray!  Here's a little garden inspiration to fill up your Friday! Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island C...

Our Apartment

Image
Happy Friday!! We are still living in our apartment while we renovate our new house.  We've lived in our apartment for about 5 years now and it's been a great place to live.  People that don't live in NYC are always talking about how apartments here are so expensive and small.  It's true that you don't have the space in the city that you would if you lived in the suburbs, but there are so many great things about living here- easy commute to Manhattan for work- subways run 24/7 and they come pretty frequently; tons of amazing nightlife-bars and clubs; access to some of the best restaurants in the WORLD; great delivery services- you can get food, dry cleaning and laundry, groceries, prescriptions and many, many more things delivered right to your door; cultural activities; outstanding shopping; beautiful Central and Prospect Parks; crossing paths with people from every country around the globe.  This list could go on and on. You can tell I'm going to miss livi...
