Baby on the Way!

Image
Hi hi. I'm am still basking in my vacation glow. If only the weather would really start to cooperate so that my transition from vacation to reality would be much easier. I'm catching up on old posts.  As you may remember, my sister is preggers and I'm going to be an aunty! My mom and I threw her baby shower at my house. Since my sister isn't going to find out if she is having a boy or a girl, the color theme for the party was pink, blue and a touch of silver. Here's what the foyer looked like: I got this local balloon guy, Jonathan , to make these cute little flower balloons (can't wait to move my seriously comfy, but very bulky couch upstairs to the play room and get a sofa upgrade in this room, but that will not be happening for a while): Said balloon guy, Jonathan, also made this lovely balloon arch over the buffet area (I was reliving my bat and bar mitzvah days). Yes, I need a real buffet and ye...

Yellow & Grey Pillows

Image
My lovely sister saw the window seat I posted in my last post (see { here } ) and asked, "where can I get that grey and white pillow?  I need one to go with the yellow and grey ikat pillow I bought (see { here } and { here } )."    I knew I had seen one similar to it recently, so I jumped onto google and plugged away.  I couldn't find the exact pillow despite my many attempts. :(  I did however, go to my go-to source for pillows, etsy.com , and found a few pillows that looked like the one on the window seat and then I found a bunch more that I thought would look great with her ikat pillows.    One of the great things about etsy (and there are many) is that you will find a lot of these pillows elsewhere for more money.  The pillow makers on etsy buy the same designer fabric on the same pillows you find in stores, but sell them for less.   See below for some of the lovelies that I found.  For more take a look { here }. ...

I hope you all have a lovely weekend! Just wanted to share a picture with you.  Back on my post about my obsession with colors grey and yellow (see { here} ),  I posted a picture of some lovely ikat (my other obsession. see {here} ) pillowcases from Etsy.  Ikat Pillow from Idari Etsy shop, now 30% off (use code SALE30 at checkout) My sister loved them so much she picked up a pair to go with her grey couch. Image from the files of StyleBurbia I think they look great.  Thanks for sharing, sis! Enjoy the weekend, all!! xo, Ris

Bringing Some Sunshine to an Otherwise Grey Day

Image
Happy Friday! Half of the time when I find something on the web that I like, I wonder how I even found it in the first place.  So, it will be hard for me to retrace my steps, but one day I stumbled across the blog Made By Hickory Chair , the blog of furniture maker Hickory Chair .  I think I was reading a blog that referenced their blog, but I can't be certain.  Anyhow, I saw these two pictures: Hickory Chair- Alexander Sofa Hickory Chair- Albert Sofa and Madeline Chairs and this my friends, is how my obsession with decorating with grey and yellow began... ( my post yesterday mentions this obsession ) I found a store that sold Hickory Chair furniture, Hampton House , and went to check out the fabric samples literally the day we closed on the house (not kidding).  Of course, the in-house designer told me that the velvet, that the two above couches are covered in, is one of the highest grade fabrics and therefore the most ex...
