Welcome to Planet Hayden

Welcome again friends to Hayden's room.
It's been a while since you've seen it, so I'll give you a little refresher course:
You can take a look at old posts {here}, {here} and {here}.

First it looked like this:
(These are pictures from our house tour before we bought the house.)

Then the house became ours and it was time to change things up:

Then we added a little paint:

and started to fix the fireplace:

Here's Hayden's bed with his Land of Nod bedding:
I love the shades of blue with the pops of orange. One of the reasons hubby and I chose the name Hayden was because we were both fans of the Hayden Planetarium, located at the Museum of Natural History, when we were growing up.
This bedding was a no-brainer for our little star gazer.

I am not a fan of the lamps on either side of the bed, but the boys love how easy they are to turn on and off.
They are those weird (or cool) lights where you touch the plate on the wall to turn them on and off.  For some reason …

Guests Welcome

Hello there!
I know.  I know. It's been soooooo long since we last spoke. The new job is kicking my arse.  Luckily I met my first big deadline and I now have time to devote to my 3rd child, StyleBurbia.
There has been some progression on the house since we last spoke.
So, here we are.
Remember the inspiration for my powder room?
If not, let's take a lookie.

The great thing about inspiration is that you start with an idea and you go with it.  Sometimes you get something really close to your inspiration, but if things happen more organically you end up with something completely different with your personal touches.

Ok. This is what the powder room looked like before we bought the house.

Nothing wrong with it, but definitely more traditional than our taste.  Anyone want to buy a hand painted sink?

Remember how many mosaic tiles I looked at?
For a refresher course, take a look {here} and {here}.

I was pretty much convinced that mosaic was definitely going to be it.

But, something…

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday and Happy New Year! I hope you had an amazing time ringing in the new year and saying goodbye to 2012.
An upcoming deadline for work is keeping me busy, busy, busy.

So for now, I'll just have to share 5 things making me happy on this grey, winter day. Loving my Sperry Top-Siders that my generous secret Santa bought me for Christmas:

Getting cozy to watch dad use our 'new' snowblower:

This yummy (and easy) lemon chicken recipe that I made for our New Year's Eve dinner: Thanks for coming Craig and Christina! A sneak peek from our 99% completed powder room: (more pics to come next week)

A sneak peek from our 'almost' completed master bathroom: (more pics to follow next week) I hope you have a lovely weekend!!!! Any fun plans? xo, Ris
