New Addition

The way things were going I'm sure you thought that you had seen your last StyleBurbia post. Aha! Think again!  I am back.. not with a vengeance, but with an appearance and excuses to make you forgive me. What can I say? Being super preggers, working a lot and trying to squeeze in some blog posts, don't mix. That's all I got. Now that being pregnant and working can no longer be an excuse this is the only one I have left.... This little guy- Kieran River- was welcomed into this world on August 15th!! 3 boys looking at the camera at once? Nearly impossible! Me and my little peanut This house is filled with a lot of love and exhaustion. I hope all has been well with you. xo, Ris

Happy Friday!

Image
The weekend has arrived (almost). Hooray!  Our weekend should be pretty relaxing.  We will be celebrating a big birthday for the hubs. Hopefully the weather won't destroy all of our plans (fingers crossed). Happy Birthday to my love!!!!! I came across this the other day in my draft posts. It had been sitting there for so long, I have no idea where I found it (perhaps a facebook page of a former colleague). I still thought it was pretty cute and a fun share for this summer Friday morning. There are several others I would add to the list, but the one standing out in my mind most is having my husband or boys tell me that they love me for no apparent reason at all :). What would you add to the list? Image found via The Brick House ps. Don't you wish you were in this spot right now? Happy Friday and Happy Weekend! xo, Ris Natural Highs 1. Falling in love. 2. Laughing so hard your face hurts. 3. A hot shower. 4. No lines at the supermarket.

Lounge update

Hi there. All good here. The baby count down has officially begun with only 3 weeks, 2 days left. Considering I already have 2 little guys, you would think this should be a piece of cake for me. Nope. Not. At. All. The panic is starting to set in because I feel like I haven't been in baby mode in so long. Will I be fine? I'm sure I will be, but stiiiiiiiilllll. Time to get my game face on. So, while I am still walking around (barely) and not in the midst of sleep deprivation and diapers, I shall post a few updates that I have neglectfully forgotten to share. So a while ago, I was dealing with a conundrum. I was trying to recreate the lounge/sun room off our kitchen area, but with a more contemporary feel. Read { here } to refresh your memory. The sun room while the previous owners lived in our house: When we first moved in it looked like this (omg Hayden looks so little here): Then we graduated to this: and for a

Hello. Hello. Just saying a brief hello and sharing a picture I posted on Instagram and Facebook  the other day. (While you're at it, follow me at Instagram and like my Facebook page , PLEASE.) Does this count as still being able to see my feet? #totallycheating   #leaningover   #cantseethematall   #babywilson   #babynumber3   #arrivalaug10   #notsoonenough   #excited   #chaos   #styleburbia ps. I totally could not see my feet at all. I was totally leaning over. They have been lost, for now. xoxo, Ris (embracing the big belly) 6 weeks left to go. omg!

Busy Busy

Hi there lovies. I guess I'm going into nesting mode early because I've been set to cray cray mode for getting the house in order. We moved the boys into a different room and got them bunk beds, so I'm working on the decor of that room {pictures coming soon}. I also wanted to get the patio around the pool set up, so that we could enjoy the area with friends and family ALL summer long. Before buying the furniture, I decided on a color palette (slightly backwards, but picking colors is a lot less difficult than figuring out a furniture configuration that works best for your space). I had to choose something because we were ordering umbrellas and I had to pick the colors. I was deciding between this gorgeous color:   and the classic color of navy: The navy ended up winning out because I couldn't find chaise lounge cushions in the turquoisey-teal color. After measuring the space where we wanted to put the sitting area and measuring

Days of Weekends Past

This past weekend we decided to have a few friends over for a little pool party. The boys got into their swimsuits as soon as they woke up. All the food was prepped and I got out all of my outdoor dining gear. Assortment of melamine tableware from Home Goods, Target, One Kings Lane and the sadly defunct Fortunoff I put the sunscreen into this cute little bucket I got from One Kings Lane .  I still hadn't gotten around to planting the annuals in their usual spot around the driveway.  I couldn't have people over to the house without finishing that up. Let's just say this big belly of mine is making it hard to do a lot of gardening this summer. So, I enlisted some help: While Tristan was helping with the planting, Hayden helped by taking over my phone to document the process: More importantly, he had to take a TON of selfies while we were toiling away .

Olli Lounger

Image
Just a little note to say hello on this super rainy and foggy Wednesday. Loving these comfy and beautiful Olli loungers that are hand embroidered by Otomi Indians from Mexico. Joanne Zorkendorfer of Olli is the mind behind these lovely loungers. They would be an amazing addition to a tv room, play room or lounge area. The price tag is not for the faint of heart, but one can dream.  ps. In defense of the hefty price tag, it does take 2-3 months to embroider the cover of the lounger.
