More Blooms and a Happy Mother's Day

Image
I told you I'm a sucker for this time of year, so bear with me as I share more pictures of our flowers blooming. Our weeping cherry. We used to have two that would form a canopy above you as you walked down the path to our back door. It was magical.  Alas, we lost it to a grub attack the super hot summer when we first bought the house.  :(  We must buy a new one. Here's one of our other cherry trees. I believe it's called a Kwanzan cherry tree. Gorgeous, huh? Especially with the blue sky as a background and the cute little Japanese maple beneath it. I love plants too much. I know. I can't help myself. The walkway to Tristan's school. It was a lovely Mother's Day at our house. My mom and mother-in-law joined in for the festivities. Our cherry tree started to drop its flowers. They were blowing in the breeze. It was beautiful. and a baby surrounded by flower...

Many more garden pics to follow.                            And this little guy... turned 8 months young yesterday.   Wow!        Seems like this was just yesterday-           and he's almost doing this!!! soooo not ready for that.. yes, I've had other babies, but crawling babies in a house full of stairs is not something I am used to (hello burbs).   yes, he's cute even with a little drool coming down his chin.         Lots of love to all of you.   Vacay pics to follow.   I can't wait!!   xo, Ris

Hello there friends. It snowed last night AGAIN.  It's still cold today.  It's still grey, but there are a few signs of spring that are keeping me going until spring finally appears. 1- Bulbs poking their heads out of the ground in the StyleBurbia garden (which are now covered with snow). I'm especially excited about the daffodils that Hayden and I planted this fall. 2- A little vacation we have planned to a warm destination that will help bridge the gap to spring.  3- There's just something about this time of year that makes you feel like you can start anew and reinvent yourself. I'm thinking maybe new hair cut and color and wearing a bit more makeup to give myself a new look. 4- Spring trends in fashion and home decor.  Here are some of the trends that I'm loving: MINTY, MINTY, MINTY Asos blouse with folded collar Joe Fresh jeans now available at JC Penney Leather School Boy bag from Joe Fresh ...

Tales from a Wandering Shopper

Happy Friday! This post it a bit of a mash up. First off, I wanted to show you that the Wall Street Journal was in agreement with me about adding some fun to men's wardrobes, and footwear in particular, by adding colored laces.  See my post about this here . Thanks to my fashion-forward co-worker who sent this article my way.  :) Click on the link below if you want to take a look at the WSJ article. WSJ men's style article The rest of the pictures are from my wandering around town trying to pick up some items from my spring shopping list.  See my list here. New Yorkers are notorious for carrying around a million bags for our gym clothes, yoga mats, flats to change into after running around in heels all day, etc.  So, I thought these totes from the Gap would be a cute way to incorporate neon (top left) or very bright colors (top right- the tote is actually a very electric blue).  Also, I love stripes.  I can't get ...
