Sneak Peek: Amy's Brooklyn Pad, Part 2

Image
Hello there! Remember this pretty lady and this handsome guy? If you don't take a look { here } . Well, they are back! I had so many pictures from Amy's Brooklyn pad that I didn't want to cram all of them into my last post. So, here are a few more.... Amy's guest bathroom is simple and white, but I LOVE how she adds these intense splashes of color to take the space from normal to AMAZING. Super cute idea, right? Guest bath towels in this lovely basket. All bath accessories by Jonathan Adler. See { here } , { here } , { here } and { here } . Here's Amy's closet. MAJOR! MAJOR! For you non-city dwellers this closet is beyond a rarity in most NYC apartments. I definitely need this jewelery storage in my new closet. Master Bathroom.  Super sleek and contemporary. Of course, Pablo's dog house/crate is as equall...

Sneak Peek: Amy's Brooklyn Pad, Part 1

Image
Today I'm giving you a sneak peek into the amazing Brooklyn apartment of my friends Amy and Bryan.  Amy and I go waaaaaaaaay back.  We've been friends since freshman year of college. Unfortunately, this is longer ago than I care to admit.  When Amy told me she was decorating her new place, I jumped at the opportunity to chit chat about the space; share ideas; and, of course, drink some wine. ;) Check us out back in the day with our other besties and roomies: Yes, we thought we were cool.  Yes, this was before low rise jeans came into being. LOL A slightly more up-to-date picture of Amy and her sweet pup, Pablo: Amy's 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment has an open floor plan where the living room, dining area and kitchen share a space.  Love the graphic pattern on this rug, which makes it the focal point of the room (for now). It will probably be moved to the guest bedroom and replaced by an amazing cowhide rug. ...

What's Going on Over at the House?

Image
Hello there! Lots of pics from the new house today.   Here's what was going on last week:  *the framers tore down the old roof over the sun room and part of the kitchen *they re-framed the roof so that it would be more sloped to avoid water pooling in the flat areas *they ripped out any remnants of the existing walls so that the electrical and plumbing could be redone *the floor was ripped out and a new one was put down- this was a tremendous job because each different part of the kitchen/sun room had a different level floor under the hardwood floor *new heating system is also being worked on- old radiators being taken out *air conditioning is being added to the house  I know some of you will think that we are CRAZY to tear down this lovely space, but our house had virtually no insulation and it would have cost a ton in heating every month.  We also had no air conditioning and window units use a ton of energy.  So, even though it...

Hmmm... These Look Kinda the Same to Me

Happy Monday (is there such a thing?)! B-day dinner with hubby went great.  We went to an Italian restaurant called Scarpetta.  Take a look { here } .   It's not your average, run-of-the mill Italian restaurant with the traditional chicken parmigiana and meatballs (don't get me wrong I love those dishes).  The food was amazing. We had Tuna 'Susci' and Braised Short Ribs of Beef for appetizers.  We shared the Spaghetti and had Branzino and Black Cod for entrees. Yum! I'm getting hungry just typing about it. Check out the menu { here } . Thanks to my friend, Chris, who always provides the best tips on what restaurant I should go to next. Dining Room at Scarpetta- the ceiling is a huge skylight (Image via Scarpetta)   For those of you kind enough to help me pick what accessories to wear to my hubby's dinner (See { here } ), I totally mixed things up and ended up wearing the dark blue necklace and the sil...
