Happy Friday and Happy New Year!   I hope you had an amazing time ringing in the new year and saying goodbye to 2012. An upcoming deadline for work is keeping me busy, busy, busy. We usually go out to our house every weekend to check on the progress that happened during the week and then stay with my parents that live in a neighboring town.  We're usually running around like maniacs picking up more supplies from Home Depot or going to look at more tile, faucets, paint etc. etc.  We have done this almost every weekend since we bought our house in late January . Let's just say, it's a grind. Last weekend, we decided to have some fun and chill with friends for a loooooooong overdue visit.  They live in a super quaint town in Long Island, New York right near the water.  Only wish they lived closer.  :(  Can you say lovely? This looks like a painting, right? I have a thing for weeping willows. One of my neighbors in my old childhood neighborhood had one of these in their yard. Happy Friday! Hello, my loves.  Hope all is well on your ends.  I am soooooo looking forward to this weekend (but when I am not?)!! My little (and only) sister is coming to visit from the left, I mean, West Coast. Soooooo excited to see her because I REALLY miss her.  :( (Quick background- she moved there a year ago- boo!) Our time together will be short as she is here for a wedding, but something is better than nothing, right? Anywho, while I'm not chillin' with the sis, I've got some house stuff to take care of: *Pick out faucets for kitchen sinks *Figure out back splash for kitchen *Narrow down/choose granite for kitchen island *Buy new vanity for guest bathroom (I have a great one picked out. This was a busy week for me and the fam.  We moved all of our stuff to the house in the burbs while the renovations on our house continue.  We closed on our Brooklyn apartment, so we are no longer Brooklynites.  :(  So, please excuse the lack of posts this past week.  I'll try to be better next week!   Happy Friday! I graduated from grad school 10 years ago though it really does feel like it was just the other day... Wow! I feel old.   Our school had a 10 year reunion party last night.  It was a fun night.  I got to see people I literally have not seen in 10 years and I got to reconnect with friends that I should see more often.  All in all, it was a lovely evening (minus the food and drinks at the event, which is a whole other story).  My amazing, beautiful sons, whom I love very much, BOTH decided it would be good to wake up this morning at 5:30 AM!! Yes, that's right.  Hubby and I escape for a night out, which doesn't happen often enough, and this is how we are repaid.  Ugh. Happy Friday! I love flowers, plants and gardening.  I've been lucky enough to have a small garden in the outdoor area of my apartment ( See previous post here ) to exercise my green thumb.  Of course, my apartment garden isn't huge and it's a little shady, but I've worked through this by mostly planting annuals and shade-loving plants.  If I'm losing you, because you know nothing about plants you can always scroll down to look at the pretty pictures. :) So, our new house has flowering trees, roses, hydrangeas and other bulbs.  I am super excited to see how everything looks as we bought the house in the dead of winter (was there really a dead of winter this year..? nope) and I can't wait to add a little of my own flair to what already seems like a beautiful garden.
