A Little Weekend Fun (for once)..

We usually go out to our house every weekend to check on the progress that happened during the week and then stay with my parents that live in a neighboring town.  We're usually running around like maniacs picking up more supplies from Home Depot or going to look at more tile, faucets, paint etc. etc.  We have done this almost every weekend since we bought our house in late January. Let's just say, it's a grind. Last weekend, we decided to have some fun and chill with friends for a loooooooong overdue visit.  They live in a super quaint town in Long Island, New York right near the water.  Only wish they lived closer.  :(

I have a thing for weeping willows. One of my neighbors in my old childhood neighborhood had one of these in their yard. Love them.  I guess there is something romantic about them or do I just have a strange affinity towards trees?  ... probably the latter. lol

We're back to the grind this weekend, picking out carpet and paint for the boys' playroom and deciding on granite for the kitchen (no, we still haven't decided what we are doing!!!).

Weekend in Review

Hello there! It's been waaaaay tooooo long. So sorry for my absence, but my nanny/babysitter had a death in the family and had to go home for a week.  All of our back up babysitters-aka our parents- were out of the country, traveling for business or extremely busy at the office and therefore could not provide their usual assistance.  Luckily for us, hubby's company has emergency daycare that you can use 3 weeks out of the year for situations just like this.  I really have to take my hat off to parents who schlep their kiddos every day to daycare, summer camp, grandma and grandpa's house etc. before they head into the office.  Let me just say it ain't easy getting those little guys dressed and fed and out the door early in the morning (of course I have to do this on weekends, but there isn't the pressure of being late for work).  The boys ended up having a great time and enjoyed taking the subway every day, so somehow we survived.  Oh- and most important

What are you Reading?

It's raining in NYC, which is quite welcome considering how extremely hot it has been the last few weeks. Days like these make me feel like staying home and curling up with a good book and a cup of coffee.  In fact, our new house has a porch (wish list item), so I'm looking forward to spending some time out there under a blanket with a cool breeze blowing over me with a glass of wine, book in hand (not sure how I can do this with two toddlers running around).  Wow! I'm really getting into this porch scenario.  You can tell I've obviously thought about this.. A LOT. This would be a good place to curl up.
