A Little Vacay

Image
The hubs and I are enjoying a little r&r in Mexico. Since Hayden was born 5 years ago, we've been away once alone together for a long weekend for our friends' wedding. That is it and that was over 3 years ago. Needless to say, we are enjoying every minute of it. Here's the view from our balcony.  More to come.  Adios! Xo, Ris

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! (ok it's a little belated)

Image
I hope you had an amazing Valentine's Day celebrating with your sweetie. Here's a kiss from me to you via one of my favorite bloggers, Jessica from The Aestate . Check out more of her prints on her Etsy site . I also wanted to send extra special hugs and kisses to those of you who go out of your way to stop by. It means so much to me. Can you believe my first post was 2 years ago and we were celebrating V-day like this 2 years ago ? Happy 2 year anniversary, StyleBurbia! xoxo, Ris

Where Have I Been?

Image
Hiiiii!!!!! I've missed you so. Too much work and a lot of stuff going on around on the home front has left poor StyleBurbia feeling quite neglected. While I clear out the cobwebs, I'll share a little bit of what I've been up to and what was so important that I didn't have time for you :(. So, first we had Christmas.  We had a ton of family over and we were lucky enough to have my sister celebrate with us from Cali and my brother-in-law from Colorado. Christmas pjs are a must in our house. Opening presents is tough work.. Lumberjack Christmas shirts.. Are we really playing with a box when Santa brought us all those gifts??? Hayden's 'cheese' face. We are working on it so it doesn't look quite so creepy... lol Once the holiday festivities were over, I had to change gears and get going on planning my sister's baby shower. Yes, I am going to be an aunty!!! Soooooo exc...

Christmas is almost here.... Have you gotten all your gifts, wrapped them, figured out your holiday menu and sent out your holiday cards???? Me either!!! :) I did find a little bit of time to get the house dressed in its festive garb. Send me some pics of your holiday decorations! I want to see, so I can get better ideas for next year. If I don't talk to you before then, Merry Christmas! Much love to you all and to your families, Ris

Spaces that Speak to Me

Image
Hi hi. I hope all is well. It seems like I am always super swamped at work this time of year.  I always feel like I'm missing out on Christmas spirit and holiday festivities when I'm glued to my computer. Poor me. :(  Luckily I had a doctor's appointment a couple of weeks ago and I was forced to escape from the office for a bit.  One of my favorite stores, Club Monaco , had undergone a complete renovation to their flagship store in NYC and I hadn't had a chance to stop by (insert busy at work- again). My doctor's office is next door so I had no excuse and boy was I happy I stopped by.  The entryway was perfectly done. I really felt like I was entering someone's super chic home rather than a store.  This picture does not do the space justice, but the ceiling was so gorgeous- a silvery grey sky with tiny glistening stars. I could stare up at it all day.  Whoa! Holy moly! Those are real trees. I was in black and white he...

Thankful

Image
As Thanksgiving Day draws upon us tomorrow, I think it's always a good time to remember what we are thankful for.  It's something I think we should do more often (like every day), but we should do it at least once a year, right? I am thankful for: a loving and supportive family both immediate and extended (honorable mentions go out to my parents, sis and hubby), my two beautiful boys, my health, amazing friends, a lovely home, a job that pays the bills and my StyleBurbia readers (you didn't think I was going to forget you?). What are you thankful for on this Thanksgiving Day and every day? xo, Ris

Seriously, is it Winter Already? Fall Updates!

Image
I woke up this morning and it was snowing. Yes, I know it's November, but really? I'm not ready yet.  Part of my mind still thinks it's August.  Since time is flying by, I need to do a little fall recap for you. 1st day of school. Hayden returns to preschool but it's Tristan's first day of school. Yippee! A little visit with my Grandpa. I'm not sure who's cuter. My aunt and uncle own a farm in East Lyme, Connecticut- Scott's Yankee Farmer .  The boys got to do a little pumpkin picking. Some gourds for mama:  and Tristan got to 'drive' a tractor. How cute is this? almost there. lol! some QT with the cousins: Then it was time for Halloween! Too bad Tristan is acting like an angry dog :( And a little fall foliage around the StyleBurbia casa: ...
