Rub a Dub Dub

Our 'new' house was built in 1897 and the last time our brand-new, state-of-the-art master bathroom was re-done was in 1925 (according to the newspapers we found in the wall during the demolition of said bathroom).

Here are some pictures of our 'vintage' master bathroom:

Pictures of what our bathroom looks like now:

For the last few weekends, we have been going to Porcelanosa. It's an amazing kitchen and bathroom store in Paramus, NJ that has tiles, kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, bathtubs, showers, faucets and more. The styles they offer are very contemporary and are way too nice to be wasted on a run-of-the-mill bathroom.

Here are some of the looks from Porcelanosa that we really love and some of the
pieces that we are contemplating for our new master bathroom.

Love the feel of this open shower
Like the way this shelf is built into the wall
This modern take on an old school style would go great with our 'old' house

This one too

Sleek and simple

The tub we are planning on getting. A tile we are contemplating is sitting on the back edge.

More tile possibilites- wall and floor combos

Tile options for floor, shower floor and accents above tub and in shower

Anyone else out there doing work on their bathroom?
How has the experience been so far?

  1. I thought the old bathroom was pretty sweet. Can't wait to see the new one.

    1. Let's just say the pictures make it look a lot nicer than it was. Definitely liked the 'vintage' feel of the bathroom before (subway tile, etc.), but the shower felt very claustrophobic. Hopefully, you'll like the new bathroom more than the old one. :)

    1. Christine-
LOL. Me either. The house is so old that there are no light switches in this bathroom (or in any of the bedrooms). There were wall sconces that you could switch on and off and there was a pull for the light on the fan. We definitely want to update the electric, which is the big reason to change this setup.

I hope you'll like how everything ties together once it's finished. :)
