You Light Up My Life

Lately, I am totally obsessed with MANY different things.  Here are my top 5: 1) Mirrors, 2) Pinterest, 3) Bright Colors for my Spring Wardrobe, 4) Decorating in Grey and Yellow and 5) Lighting.

In the new house, we're going to need a lot of new lighting.  I'm planning on putting chandeliers EVERYWHERE- the master bathroom, my dressing room, the dining room, the foyer, the re-designed sunroom and possibly the kiddos bathroom too.  Well, when I said I was obsessed, I wasn't kidding! :)  A lot of the new chandeliers are less traditional and aren't what come to mind when you think chandelier.

So without further ado, here are some of my chandelier inspirations:

It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday

The previous owners of our house used the below room as their dining room.  The walls were covered with a peachy grass cloth wallpaper.  Initially, we were going to keep it on the walls, but after closer examination we realized that the wallpaper was coming up at the seams and would likely need to be redone.  After the wallpaper was taken down  So, we took down the wallpaper and found a little surprise. We found these little guys under the wallpaper.  The previous owners bought our house in the early eighties.  I would assume that they wouldn't cover up their own paintings with wallpaper, though I could be wrong.  So, I'm assuming that these angels are at least 30 years old, which is not that old in the 115 year history of our house.  I still thought it was cool to find these little treasurers.   Unfortunately for them, they are totally not our style, so we painted over them.  I felt reall...

Porch Reveal

Are you surprised? I'm sure you can't believe that I actually came back and put up another post and it didn't take me months?  LoL I'm trying!   So back to the porch.  Welcome back. Up the stairs we go.    I can see a big improvement already. I guess it couldn't have been much worse, right?            The porch re-do all started with this bench I found at Restoration Hardware. The color scheme came from the rug , which I saw by chance at Target. I always find that when you're actually looking for something you can never find it.  I thought the red and orange would be a good compliment to the pink paint of my house and porch and the maroon shutters.      I also got the smaller oblong (rectangle) pillows  during the same trip to Target.
