Let's just say there is a lot of pressure to have a beautiful, functional and inviting kitchen because the kitchen, most often, is the heart of the home. 

We've been working on a lot of different aspects of the kitchen: the style of the kitchen- traditional, contemporary or transitional, the new layout, the appliances, the cabinets, the counter tops and the floor.  So, you get my drift.  There is A LOT to figure out. 

So, here's what we have figured out so far:  We want a contemporary kitchen.  The cabinet doors will be white with sleek, flat fronts and probably very glossy.

Some contemporary kitchens, especially when the cabinets are white, can seem a bit cold, so we will likely add some warmth with the counter top that we choose.

At the same time, I do love the look of a kitchen with white cabinets and white counter tops.  See here and here. 

I would love the below kitchen with all white cabinets:

 We will likely get an induction cook top.  Induction cooking (read more here) only heats the pan, so the cook top itself doesn't get hot at all (I know, hard to fathom).  It's super efficient and gets hotter much faster than its electric and gas counterparts.  It's going to take a bit to get used to the different cooking style, but I'm liking the way the cook top really becomes a part of the kitchen island instead of distracting from it.

We're still working on the placement of our double ovens and microwave.  There's not much space to place them.  Ideally, it would be nice to be able to have the double ovens and the microwave on top of them.  Only problem, the manufacturer doesn't recommend having a microwave over the double ovens because of the heat the two ovens generate.  We could move the microwave to another cabinet, but that means one less cabinet to use for other things.  It ain't easy!  So, we're still working on that, but need to decide ASAP so that we can decide on the cabinet configuration.

We're still waiting on two quotes for kitchen cabinets that will hopefully come in this week. 

Any appliances out there that you absolutely love or hate for me to know about before I put in my order for appliances?
